INTERVIEW & GIVEAWAY WITH THE DAZZLING KRISTEN THOMPSON

Several months back we interviewed Kristen who is super talented and we are so happy to have her back.  She owns the blog Seeing Night Reviews and also is a cover artist!  Check out her interview below and we will also show you some of her amazing work as well.

Cats or Dogs? ( Hey what about Birds and lizards? ) Dogs, I just got a new puppy named Cass, he’s a six-month-old German Shepherd.

Salty or Sweet (This of course means when you’re “playing” because this isn’t an adult Goddess site for nothin’)? Chocolate? How about a little bit of both
Vampires or Werewolves (Of course you can choose “other” but you have to elaborate *snickering*)? Oh I’m all about the werewolves. Got to love those muscular who can keep you warm at night.
Fireman or Cowboy? Fireman, just love men who can handle the heat and save a life.
Hairy or Smooth (Body hair)? Smooth!!!…eww to the hairy, I don’t find that attractive.
Clean Shaven or Stubble? That’s hard, I like them both depending on the occasion. Shaven is nice to touch but that rugged look is darn sexy.
Diet or Regular soda (Or....if you’re like me, Kimberly, you’re stuck on Powerade Zero)? I’m a Powerade or Juice girl, I do like soda once in a while though.
Fruit or Veggies (Or Chocolate)? Fruit, but I’m pretty picky about which ones I like. Adding chocolate does help
Coffee or tea (Or Chocolate)? I’m a hot chocolate lover, especially on a cold night sitting down reading a good book.

The song that is most annoying when it sticks in your head -- sorry had to do it?  You know surprisingly I don’t have one, I only listen to music driving to work and working out but I can’t seem to think of one.
Apple or Microsoft? Apple, since I’m a graphic designer I have both but I love my MAC.
Drama or Comedy or anything with Gerard Butler -- What Shauni? He’s Hawt!  What Kim?*wiping drool* I love Gerard but what about Jason Momoa ooooohhh Or Charlie Hunnan?  OOH Shauni! Charlie!!! We Loves Us some Jax! SOA! All the way baby!  I guess we should let the guest answer the question though, huh? (tv, movies)?  Hmm well I love me some Jax any day as well and Jason Moma… But my main man is Thor! Love Chris Hemsworth! I’m all for the action, science fiction and fantasy movie.
Spring or Fall (Fall -- cuz I can beat him to the floor! *snickering*)? Fall I love the cooler weather and it’s close to winter!
Sedan or Sports Car (Hey! I live in Texas! Where’s the truck suggestion???)? Hmm not a car person but I love my new Kia Soul that I bought.
Tattoos or no Tattoos? Tattoos, I have one and my hubby has three
Favorite splurge food -- Tacos, Pizza, Cheeseburger (Or Chocolate peanut butter swirl FUDGE)???? Love me some good fries and a burger!
What dish do you make perfect? My hubby’s favorite that I love to make is my tacos with lots of my special spices, along with my homemade salsa and guacamole.

Can you give us your favorite Christmas cookie recipe? If not the recipe, your favorite cookie, we’ll find the recipe.
I don’t have a recipe, but my mom and I make sugar cookies and add some sprinkles on it before baking them.

What dish have you messed up completely by burning or over cooking it? I tried making a lemon meringue pie, it came out so bad, I think I missed something in the ingredients…let just say it tasted like egg…I’m not a pie maker.
Now is the part where we let you do some shameless self promotion of your books, artwork or jewelry (this sentence will be centered directly towards you and your work when the interview comes up).  Please tell the readers something about what you’re currently writing or what has just been released.  We’re shameless when it comes to pimpin’ new stuff!
I just finished a book cover design “Full House” for author Jean Holloway for her Deck of Cardz series. It comes out this month for the holidays. It was a lot of fun working on a genre that I haven’t done before and I was really happy with the turn out.
*Can you please show the readers some of your most favorite work? Feel free to shamelessly promote your achievements here because we, as Goddesses, totally would!
What is one of your most favorite pieces that you have done for yourself? If its something personal and you don’t want to show it, can you tell us about it?

One of my favorite design pieces would have to be for my own book that I wrote for college. I designed the full layout for my book cover called Unknown Magic and I also love two sample cover piece I designed called Fantasy Castle and Forsen Hills based on two short stories I started a while back. My style of design is a rustic urban look, I love using textures and doing a lot of photo manipulating. I love all my designs and put a lot into them, I wouldn’t be able to choose a favorite. I was honored to design for Jean Holloway for her series and I hope to continue to design for many authors to come. I design ebook covers, full prints, banners, headers, and bookmarks. You can find me over at Seeing Night Reviews or KCT Designs for more designs and to check out the wonderful books I review.

Here is the cover to the latest book Kristen designed.  Pretty cool!
Thank you to the wonderful ladies here at Reading With Baking Goddesses, it was a pleasure and I had a blast!

For this giveaway, we will be giving another one of the awesome bookthongs created by Mandy at Stupid Shiny Designs.  This one is called: Celtic Knot

Welcome the Amazin Denise

Cats or Dogs? ( Hey what about Birds and lizards? ) Cats. I have two. Named Mischief and Mayhem.

Salty or Sweet (This of course means when you’re “playing” because this isn’t an adult Goddess site for nothin’)? Chocolate? Both. You gotta have sweet after salty! What woman doesn’t like chocolate? Okay, there are a few, but that’s just so wrong. I’m fond of dark chocolate.

Vampires or Werewolves (Of course you can choose “other” but you have to elaborate *snickering*)? Vampire. Please. It’s like the sexiest thing in the world to be “bitten” on the neck.

Fireman or Cowboy? No contest…cowboy! I mean seriously, a man in a pair of snug, worn out jeans, and cowboy boots. Yeehaw! “Save a horse, ride a cowboy.”

Hairy or Smooth (Body hair)? Hm…depends on where. Bald is good. Hairy chest is sexy. But hair on his sexy cowboy butt – NOT!

Clean Shaven or Stubble? Shaven most the time, but yeah, I like a little scruff just so I have the marks from his passionate kisses on my face after a night of good lovemaking.

Diet or Regular soda (Or....if you’re like me, Kimberly, you’re stuck on Powerade Zero)? Diet? Blech! If you’re going to drink it then go for the real thing.

Fruit or Veggies (Or Chocolate)? Fruit! Which, of course, means I like chocolate covered fruit.

Coffee or tea (Or Chocolate)? Ick! Chocolate Raspberry hot cocoa. Now that’s a warm drink I can get into. Sneak a little Bailey’s in and settle down for a nice relaxing evening in front of a fireplace.

The song that is most annoying when it sticks in your head -- sorry had to do it. OMG! I have no clue. I don’t listen to the radio. I only listen to my CDs and well, I like them all.

Apple or Microsoft? I am a computer geek and I am a Microsoft baby. I don’t own an iPod, iPad, or any other I whatever.

OH! I love Gerard Butler. The way his lip curls up slightly in a sexy smirk. He can do me anytime. Wha?! Did I say that out loud?

Spring or Fall (Fall -- cuz I can beat him to the floor! *snickering*)? Fall. Fires in firepits, colorful leaves and mums, and uh did I mention guys in jeans and sweaters, oh yeah, and cowboy boots. Guys who give you their jacket while you snuggle up around the firepit toasting marshmallows together and him blowing the burning marshmallow out before feeding it to me. Definitely, fall!

Sedan or Sports Car (Hey! I live in Texas! Where’s the truck suggestion???)? Yeah, where is the truck suggestion. Not one of those massive trucks like men drive to compensate for you know…the lack of. But a cool, kickass truck that you have to climb up to get in.

Tattoos or no Tattoos? OMG! I can’t believe you asked this question. Can you keep a secret? Well, okay, shh! I just have to tell you that for my birthday I got a tattoo. Holy cow! I can’t believe I told you that. Now you want to know what it is. It’s a cool Celtic knot.
Favorite splurge food -- Tacos, Pizza, Cheeseburger (Or Chocolate peanut butter swirl FUDGE)???? Pizza. This is the bestest food ever invented. Seriously, it has all the four food groups and it tastes the best. My favorite is a hot & sassy pizza. Hot & sassy is pepperoni, prosciutto, jalapenos, feta, and green olives. To die for!

What dish do you make perfect? I make the best chocolate lollipops. Oh! You meant like real food. In that case, lasagna. I learned to make lasagna from a cook in school. Yup, sorry, mom, mine is the best!

What dish have you messed up completely by burning or over cooking it? Bread. I swear there is a trick to making it not come out in the shape of a paperweight.
Can you give us your favorite Christmas cookie recipe? My favorite holiday cookie is my sister’s M&M cookies. I never eat anyone else’s M&M cookies. Only hers. And I never eat them at any other time except Christmas. Of course, she won’t share her recipe with me. [Scowling at baby sister] So I will share with you a recipe I make that no man, I mean no man can turn down. I call them Monster Cookies.

1 C. Margarine softened
2 C. White Sugar
2 C. Packed Brown Sugar
3 C. Peanut Butter
6 Eggs
1 ½ tsp. Corn Syrup
1 ½ tsp. Vanilla Extract
4 tsp. Baking Soda
9 C. Rolled Oatmeal
1 C. Mini M&Ms
1 C. Mini Chocolate Chips

Preheat oven to 350 degrees
In Large Bowl: cream together the margarine, white sugar, brown sugar,
and peanut butter until smooth.
Beat in eggs (2 at a time), then stir in the corn syrup and
and vanilla. Mix in baking soda and oats until well
blended. Stir in M&Ms and chocolate chips.
Roll dough into 2 inch balls and place 3 inches apart on
an ungreased cookie sheet. Flatten slightly with a fork.

Bake: 12 to 15 minutes in the preheated oven. Cool on cookie sheet
a few minutes, before transferring to wire racks to cool completely.

You just happen to pick the best time for this party. My latest novel, Phish NET Stalkings, is due out any time now. Here is a small blurb.

All she wanted was to find love. Was that too much to ask? How difficult could it be to find one man, the perfect man for her?

After dating the losers of the century, Jane decides there has to be a better way. She turns to an online dating service. After all, they guarantee a ‘happily ever after’ or your money back.

Jane East, CEO of ‘Not So Plain Jane’s organic cosmetics wants to fall in love with a man who makes her toes curl when he kisses her. Instead, the one man who makes her toes curl also wears ladies’ pink underwear and a badge. The pink underwear she could probably deal with, but the badge is a different story.

Ever since seeing her mother and granny Pearl murdered by men with badges, Jane has a fear of cops and anyone who carries a badge. Especially, because the killers are still on the loose and searching for her.

Former FBI Cybercrime special agent turned small-town Chief of Police, Cooper Chance, gets caught with his pants down and his family jewels tucked in pink ladies’ underwear with lacy frills when he meets the woman of his dreams. That’s not his only issue. The woman has a fear of badges. If he can get past her guard, maybe he can save her life.

*Can you please show the readers some of your most favorite work? Feel free to shamelessly promote your achievements here because we, as Goddesses, totally would!

I didn’t create the cover art, but I did write the romantic suspense stories behind the covers.

What is one of your most favorite pieces that you have done for yourself? If its something personal and you don’t want to show it, can you tell us about it?
One of the most personal accomplishments is having my very first poem published. It’s title is “All About Me”. It’s a very personal poem to me and I have never shared it with anyone except for those people that were in the coffee shop where all the poets read their poems one night. Even then, it was so personal I was practically in tears and was choked up while reading.

Do you ever make something and think....OoOOh! That is ALL MINE!!! ?
Actually, I say, “I did that” every time I plant a new flower or tree in my garden and it blooms. And when I want to curl up to read a good book , I have this blanket that sits on the back of the sofa that I made all by myself. It’s wicked warm and snuggly.
Wicked”…that’s one of those New England terms I picked up since moving to New Hampshire over ten years ago. Of course, I also grew up in Minnesota and there we use phrases like “Uffda”.

Currently, I’m working on an erotic novella for Ellora’s Cave titled Stray’s Anatomy. It’s a sequel to Honey, I Shrunk The Werewolf. The hero is what I’ve dubbed a “wolf whisperer”, he specializes in helping werewolves who’ve been traumatized to heal and shift again. In essence, he’s a werewolf therapist. LOL!

And next up in terms of coming soon is Waltz This Way, the third in my contemporary series for Berkley about ex-trophy wives—dude out March 2012. This book has a special place in my heart because it’s about an ex-ballroom dancer who’s husband is a bigtime choreographer turned judge on a show called Dude, You Can Dance who dumps her very publicly and leaves her with nothing but her dancing shoes. And I love me some dancing shoes!

And as if that wasn’t enough Dakota, I have two more Accidentals coming out in 2012, Accidentally Dead, Again which features my first male “accident” and The Accidental Genie!

Welcome the WONDERFUL Dee Carney

Thank you for joining The Bakin_Goddesses Let us introduce one of our friends Dee Carney!
NOTE: **To see the Rafflecopter form, please click on the "Read More" link at the bottom of the post.  The posts are long and they carry on to another page.  Our apologies for any confusion.**

Cats or Dogs? ( Hey what about Birds and lizards? ) Dogs! Cats have too much attitude and I have all the attitude we need in one house, thank you very much.
Salty or Sweet (This of course means when you’re “playing” because this isn’t an adult Goddess site for nothin’)? Chocolate? Sweet, please. Try licking salty things off your partner, and soon your tongue is dry and all you can think about is getting a glass of water. And then you have to pee. And then you’re introducing a kink into your sex that you hadn’t quite considered before… Things could get ugly if you’re not careful.
Vampires or Werewolves (Of course you can choose “other” but you have to elaborate *snickering*)? Date a werewolf and you have to vacuum the house more often. Date a vampire and you have a man putting hickeys on all the sensitive parts of your neck…licking and sucking and… *getting goosebumps*
Fireman or Cowboy? There’s nothing sexier than a fireman. Period.
Hairy or Smooth (Body hair)? This is a depends question. If he’s all muscly or athletic, smooth. If he’s your average Joe, body hair. But please, no Wolfman Jacks.
Clean Shaven or Stubble? Stubble. I’m all for walking away with battle scars from a hot encounter. Kind of like carpet burn, but instead of on your knees, it’s on your face. *wink*
Diet or Regular soda (Or....if you’re like me, Kimberly, you’re stuck on Powerade Zero)? Neither. I’m not a big soda drinker, with the exception of root beer. Love that stuff.
Fruit or Veggies (Or Chocolate)? Have to go with chocolate. I have this weird allergy to raw fruits and veggies and I never know when one will send me to the ER. (Not a deadly reaction or anything… *knock on wood* So far, at least.)
Coffee or tea (Or Chocolate)? All three. I have coffee every morning and throughout the day to keep me going. Then I have decaf tea every night to relax and unwind with as a I read a book. Chocolate is good 24/7. Everyone knows that.
The song that is most annoying when it sticks in your head -- sorry had to do it. Here’s a little song I wrote. You might want to sing it note for note. Don’t worry. Be happy.
http://youtu.be/d-diB65scQU
Apple or Microsoft? Love my i-Products, but I can’t live without my PC. So, have to say both.
I don’t have a favorite hero or a favorite anything really. But in my top five for movies (in no particular order) is The Fifth Element, The Princess Bride, The Mummy Returns (the second movie; not any of the others), The Long Kiss Goodnight and number five changes from month to month.
Spring or Fall (Fall -- cuz I can beat him to the floor! *snickering*)? Fall, please. In Spring, I have to live in a bubble because my allergies keep me from enjoying the pollen out to kill me.
Sedan or Sports Car (Hey! I live in Texas! Where’s the truck suggestion???)? Neither. I will do anything to help the environment. Except I have to drive an SUV. My very first car at the ripe old age of 16 was the size of a postage stamp and I came close to being squashed so many times that now I insist on driving something people who wear Coke-bottle glasses can see coming a mile away.
Tattoos or no Tattoos? Tattoos, please. Running my fingers over them makes me tingle in naughty places. I love, love, love body art.
Favorite splurge food -- Tacos, Pizza, Cheeseburger (Or Chocolate peanut butter swirl FUDGE)???? A big, juicy, medium, grilled burger brushed with barbeque sauce and topped with onions. Dear God. I think I just had an orgasm.
What dish do you make perfect? Cinnamon rolls, unfortunately. It took me more than twenty years to get the ingredients and process right, but damn, I make some of the best cinnamon rolls I have ever encountered. If you’re wondering why I said “unfortunately”, it’s because my recipe makes at least twenty-four. There are only two of us in the house. Cinnamon rolls rarely last to the next day.
What dish have you messed up completely by burning or over cooking it? I can’t even remember what kind of meat it was—think it was beef—that I turned into shoe leather. My darling husband chewed on that sucker for the three hours necessary and just swallowed it down though.
Can you give us your favorite Christmas cookie recipe? If not the recipe, your favorite cookie, we’ll find the recipe. My favorite Christmas cookie recipe is a modification of a classic. Take the Toll House chocolate chip recipe and instead of brown sugar, substitute molasses and white sugar (for 1 cup brown sugar, use 1 cup white sugar and 2 tbls molasses). Let the dough sit for twenty-four hours in the fridge before baking. Voila. Some of the best damned cookies EVER.

KEEPING PACE is one of my highest reviewed books and definitely one of my favorites. Older woman meets younger man who won’t take no for an answer? Yes, please. Here’s a small snippet:

Anyone who dared peek into my kitchen window right now would behold a glorious sight. Josh held me by one arm as I leaned back, my thighs spread, my skirt bunched around my waist. My shirt had twisted in our frantic groping. He’d positioned himself between my legs, one of his hands hidden beneath the material of my panties. We writhed together as he played with my body, bringing me to a ledge over which I wanted to jump before pulling me away again. He did this again and again, teasing me ever closer, never letting me fall.

Pleasure and sensation wound tightly through me, and inhaling the scent of Josh, savoring his taste and my mind traveling to the memory of yesterday and the reality of now, I felt assaulted from all sides and angles.

Our hungry kissing left my lips swollen, my cheeks and chin burning from the scrape of his light stubble. It’d been too long since I felt this wanton, this desired.

“Oh God…” My hands tightened on his biceps, the muscle unyielding beneath my grip. But I needed an anchor, something that would keep me tethered to the earth as Josh pushed me toward the stars.

“Don’t hold back, Gina. Let me see you come.”

His words spurred me higher, and something within me tightened. It exploded on a rush, shattering with such force that I cried out. I threw my head back, too focused on the way I’d come undone to hold myself together any longer. But Josh was there. Josh clung to me as I shuddered. As my muscles locked and bowed to the pleasure.

“Oh my God…” I moaned at last when my voice would work again. He’d eased his touch, gentling me down from my high.

His lips touched mine, and he withdrew his hand at the same time. “Damn, you’re beautiful like that. I can’t wait to see it again.”

“So let’s head upstairs,” I said between panting breaths.

“When we go upstairs, I’m going to tuck you in, and then I’m going home.” I made a soft noise, ready to disagree. He kissed me again, silencing the protest. “Not tonight. Not like this. But soon, I hope.”

*happy sigh* KEEPING PACE is available from Samhain Publishing, as all as most ebook retailers. Visit my web site to read another excerpt, http://www.deecarney.com/bookshelf/keeping-pace

If you prefer a spicy quick fix, my alter ego, Morgan Sierra, is releasing a short story erotica piece at Cobblestone Press on 12.21.11. DEATH TAKES A HOLIDAY is a quick paranormal romp that should leave you breathless. Here’s the blurb:

She is in the after-hours bar to do her job. It’s not-so-tough and yes, someone has to do it. When she meets Jake, however, the dark haired, blue-eyed bartender, her curiosity—and sexual interest—is piqued. There couldn’t possibly be anything wrong with putting a little pleasure before business…

The mystery woman with luxurious taste might be a little out of his league, but Jake is lured by her beauty and innate sensuality. She gifts him with one incredible night of pleasure and he’s happy to indulge without thought to consequences. But could her price be higher than he ever imagined?

Priced at 99 cents, DEATH TAKES A HOLIDAY is a steal! An excerpt and the buy links will be available on my site, December 21st. (http://www.deecarney.com)

Keeping Pace
by Dee Carney

One spark could burn her world down.
Six years after her husband’s death, Regina Pace is still just going through the motions, her only pleasure a nightly glass (or three) of wine to dull the ache. Tonight is no exception—until a sensual outdoor encounter with her neighbor’s son, freshly home from college. He’s older, wiser, more devastatingly handsome than she remembered. He’s also fifteen years her junior.
Despite her misgivings, it isn’t long before her nightly ritual includes a long, deep drink of Josh Smith. Ogling leads to touching, then the sparks flare into an erotic encounter that feels wickedly right—and deliciously forbidden.
Yet the intense heat can’t burn away the doubt pestering the back of her mind. That the gap between their ages is too large, even for the most determined leap of faith…
Warning: Features a boy-next-door who won’t take no for an answer, more than one sexual fantasy (including some outdoor self-loving!), and a burning romance that proves age is just a number.

INTERVIEW & GIVEAWAY WITH KASI ALEXANDER!

A while ago, I, Kimberly, won a copy of a book by a new author, Kasi Alexander.  The book, Becoming Sage, was a look into a world we don't often see the true side of, BDSM.  It is definitely a controversial issue with some people but I think Kasi writes this book with such grace and such knowledge that it takes the "scary" out of it for most of us.  It shows the true love behind being part of a committed relationship -- just like any other committed relationship.  It's the "that which we don't understand, we fear" part of this lifestyle that keeps us from asking questions and being uneducated about it.  Kasi reaches out to educate us and to show us how loving it actually can be.  It's a great story, told by a very, very nice lady.  Please welcome Kasi and her quite informative *winks* interview!

Cats or Dogs? ( Hey what about Birds and lizards? ) Dogs, although I like cats too. But generally dogs, and the bigger the better. If they bred Giant Great Danes I would be all over it.
Salty or Sweet (This of course means when you’re “playing” because this isn’t an adult Goddess site for nothin’)? Chocolate? Sweet, and chocolate, for sure. Of course, my favorite treat is salty, and creamy, and white, and warm…
Vampires or Werewolves (Of course you can choose “other” but you have to elaborate *snickering*)? Hmm – This is actually a question addressed in the first few pages of the second book in The Keyhole Series (“Saving sunni,” hopefully to be released around April 2012). I have nothing against werewolves, and I like the fact that they eat food and enjoy exercising it off, but I think vampires have a huge advantage in the staying-young-forever thing and (in certain mythologies) becoming incredibly gorgeous with the change!
Fireman or Cowboy? Hmm. Cowboy, if he’s educated and intelligent and witty. Although firemen do have those cute calendars…
Hairy or Smooth (Body hair)? Hairy. To a point.
Clean Shaven or Stubble? Stubble is always sexy! It’s rugged and masculine.
Diet or Regular soda (Or....if you’re like me, Kimberly, you’re stuck on Powerade Zero)? Diet, definitely. I like drinking guilt-free.
Fruit or Veggies (Or Chocolate)? In the absence of chocolate, or bread and cheese, I’d take raspberries, strawberries, or veggies. I love leeks, kale, scallions, beets—all kinds of weird shit. Especially with a good cheese sauce!
Coffee or tea (Or Chocolate)? Coffee. With a decadent flavored creamer and whipped cream on top. You can never have enough whipped cream. It comes in handy in all kinds of situations.
The song that is most annoying when it sticks in your head -- sorry had to do it. Anything where I can only get one or two lines and they keep going over and over. And then it’s really annoying when you can’t remember later what it was. (Humming with fingers in ears…)
Apple or Microsoft? I’d take Apple if I had the choice but Microsoft is cheaper and more compatible.
Hmm—depends on the day. Usually comedy, and generally something kind of off-the-wall. I don’t like slapstick but I love things that are witty and strange—or anything that has German being spoken. Of course, the combination of motorcycles and Jax is pretty hot, too.
Spring or Fall (Fall -- cuz I can beat him to the floor! *snickering*)? I do like fall but the aftereffects aren’t as pleasant, so I’d have to go with spring.
Sedan or Sports Car (Hey! I live in Texas! Where’s the truck suggestion???)? Motorcycle. Unless it’s raining. Then sports car. And head for somewhere that it’s spring or summer.
Tattoos or no Tattoos? Oh, tattoos, yes, definitely. Mmmmmm.
Favorite splurge food -- Tacos, Pizza, Cheeseburger (Or Chocolate peanut butter swirl FUDGE)???? Pizza, pizza, pizza!!! (Especially with chili instead of tomato sauce.) THEN fudge. Peanut butter.
What dish do you make perfect? I’m getting really good at piecrust.
What dish have you messed up completely by burning or over cooking it? Pretty much anything I ever tried—the first couple of times, at least.
Can you give us your favorite Christmas cookie recipe? If not the recipe, your favorite cookie, we’ll find the recipe. No bake chocolate peanut butter. The recipes are everywhere, and they’re all pretty much the same. Yummy!!
My first novel, “Becoming sage,” has been out since April 2011. The sequel, “Saving sunni,” is now with the publisher and we’re hoping it will be out before too long. Funny you should mention jewelry. My partners and I have a side business making chainmail jewelry, which you can check out at www.polyspleasures.com. Chainmail makes great, unique Christmas gifts! It’s not just for the knights anymore! We specialize in rainbow and custom pieces.
*Can you please show the readers some of your most favorite work? Feel free to shamelessly promote your achievements here because we, as Goddesses, totally would!  See below…
What is one of your most favorite pieces that you have done for yourself? If its something personal and you don’t want to show it, can you tell us about it? I am very partial to the “werewolves vs vampires” scene in “Saving sunni.” Here’s a teaser:
“So,” she said intently, “Which side are you on?”
I’m sure my face went completely blank. I couldn’t imagine what she was talking about, although I could hear Darth Vader’s voice in my head growling, “Come to the dark side, Luke.”
My confusion must have shown, because she said impatiently, “Edward or Jacob?”
It still took me a minute, but then it dawned on me. She was actually starting my job interview by talking about vampires versus werewolves. I pictured Sir’s face when I could tell him and nearly burst out laughing.
“I… I don’t know,” I finally said, trying to sound as serious as possible. “I think there are benefits to both.”
She nodded, as if we were discussing something very philosophical and important. “What benefits?”
“Um, well, I like how wild and free werewolves are,” I said, thinking that this was a really bizarre conversation, even for me, “and I must confess I do like doggie style.” Geri giggled and nodded vigorously. “But the vampires can make you immortal, and you don’t have to worry about your weight anymore. Although I have to say I would miss ice cream.”
This is my collar, made by my Sir. It’s a beautiful piece and it is ALL MINE (and his, of course).
I think this is one of my favorite pieces as well.

I love this weave too. It’s a combination of Helm and Japanese 12-in-2, and it’s stretchy.

INTERVIEW & GIVEAWAY WITH ONE OF OUR FAVORITE AUTHORS....JEAN MURRAY!

It is officially 9 days until Christmas but we are bringing Christmas to you early with our interview with Jean Murray!  Instead of making you wait forever through our blathering and dithering about how great she is, lets just get to it!  Because she really is great!

Introducing Author Jean Murray:
I want to thank Kimberly and Shauni for inviting me to celebrate their grand opening and beautiful new webpage.  Kimberly/Bakin Goddess and I go way back to one of my very first giveaways.  She won a copy of my debut novel, Soul Reborn.  At the time being new to authorship, I never realized what a tight community of writers, readers and authors there were in the virtual world. Amazing really.  So many bloggers like Kim and Shauni out to support small press authors like myself.  She graciously agreed to interview me as a debut author and we participated in the Carnival Blog Hop. The results were amazing.  I’m so thrilled she invited me back for their release party. I can’t wait to get to know Shauni and all their blog’s fabulous following.
Bio: Jean Murray was born and raised in a small town on the east coast. In her pursuit of a nursing degree, she aspired to see the world and joined the Navy. One of the benefits of her membership in the Armed Forces, she has had the opportunity to travel and live in different parts of the world and the United States. Her travels abroad have given her the opportunity to experience different cultures. It inspired her to delve into Ancient Egyptian myths and legends for her debut novel, Soul Reborn, book 1 in the Key to the Cursed series from Crescent Moon Press, now available.
So let’s have some fun.  I’m ready. Hit me…

Cats or Dogs? ( Hey what about Birds and lizards? )
Jean:  I’m definitely a dog person.  We’ve always had shelter dogs.  I brought one back from Spain.  Named him Rico, of course. Rico Suave. He was a great dog.  We decided he needed a friend so we went to the shelter, looking for a medium to small size dog.  We came across this cute puppy with the biggest brown eyes, wrinkly skin and tiny little feet.  Being only part Shar Pei, they assured us she would be about 45-50lbs, stocky and stout. Needless to say, 6 months later she was 80 lbs and bigger than Rico. I never regretted it though. We saved her life and my sons now have the friendliest dog.  I like cats, but I’m too lazy to clean out a litter box.
Salty or Sweet (This of course means when you’re “playing” because this isn’t an adult Goddess site for nothin’)? Chocolate?
Jean:  Honestly, I like a mix of both. I’m all for variety in life. LOL.

Vampires or Werewolves (Of course you can choose “other” but you have to elaborate *snickering*)?
Jean:  I love vampires, but I much prefer Egyptian gods.  Ahem… What kind of author would I be if I didn’t love my Underworld gods.  They are dark, dangerous, and oh so yummy.

Fireman or Cowboy?
Jean:  I’m a sucker for heroes and love writing about them. I spent 20 years in the military surrounded by them and eventually even married one.  If I had to choose, I would pick a fireman.  There is just something about a guy that would run into a burning building to save you that is just so alluring.

Hairy or Smooth (Body hair)?
Jean:  In my Key to the Cursed series, the Egyptian Underworld gods are completely bare, everywhere but their heads. When creating them, I just couldn’t picture gods having an evolutionary left over on their bodies.  Asar, Inpu, Bakari and Bomani would exude perfection, even down to their skin. One of my heroes, Kamen, is different though.  He has a perpetual five o’clock shadow and for good reason. You don’t want to be locked in the same room with this god.  He’s beastly…

Personally, I like a little bit of both.  I think it’s unnatural to be totally bare, but the more is better theory stops with hair. Too much is kind of…. well… I don’t want to be with someone with a fur coat.  I guess werewolves are out of the question.

Clean Shaven or Stubble?
Jean:  As you can tell from my answers, I am a middle of the road kind of gal. No either or…  I like things gray, versus black and white. There are times when clean shaven is super sexy, but stubble has its place (but not every day) on the weekends when you are having so much fun “playing” there is no time to shave.

Diet or Regular soda (Or....if you’re like me, Kimberly, you’re stuck on Powerade Zero)?
Jean:   I drink diet Pepsi. I like the taste with no calories.

Fruit or Veggies (Or Chocolate)?
Jean:  What about fruit dipped in chocolate.  Strawberries are awesome with dark chocolate glaze. Can’t say I’ve ever tried chocolate veggies, just doesn’t sound right, but I’m sure the Bakin Goddess would make them taste great.

Coffee or tea (Or Chocolate)?
Jean:  Coffee, coffee and more coffee.  Preferably, a café latte with skim milk, no sugar.  I’ll be honest, I hated coffee up until I was stationed in Spain.  I’m a coffee convert.  Love it!!!

The song that is most annoying when it sticks in your head -- sorry had to do it.
Jean:  Without a doubt it is that Barbie song…  You know…  I’m a Barbie girl in a Barbie world. Wrapped in plastic, it’s fantastic…  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v35fWf1CWFQ

It’s an old one, but damn if I don’t cringe every time I hear it. I think my husband plays it occasionally just to torture me.

Apple or Microsoft?
Jean:  Microsoft.  My IT husband would shoot me if I said otherwise

Jean: Okay, I second your suggestions.  I have to say my new heart throb is Chris Hennson, the actor from Thor and I’m not even partial to blondes, but geez he has a nice body.

Spring or Fall (Fall -- cuz I can beat him to the floor! *snickering*)?
Jean:  Man you guys are making this tough on me, trying to pick from my favorite things in life. Okay, spring.  There is something to be said about things starting anew.  A fresh start and a break from the doldrums of winter.  The tulips bloom and the green leaves start to form on the trees.  Only five more months away or longer depending on where you live.

Sedan or Sports Car (Hey! I live in Texas! Where’s the truck suggestion???)?
Jean:  My dream sports car--  Silver Ferrari. Whoever says sedan or minivan should be slapped.

Tattoos or no Tattoos?
Jean:  My Underworld gods have hieroglyphics on their forearms which designates them as gods.  The dark warriors have raised tattoos, carved into their skin, as a rite of passage and designates their rank among the legion. Bomani, Commander of the Legions, his entire body is covered in raised tattoos and he has the Underworld shield branded into his chest.  These guys are tough.  I wouldn’t mess with them. So I guess my answer is tattoos.

Favorite splurge food -- Tacos, Pizza, Cheeseburger (Or Chocolate peanut butter swirl FUDGE)????
Jean:  Anything chocolate—ice cream, cake, cheesecake, candy. Oh yeah, and brownies.

What dish do you make perfect?
Jean:  I love cooking for large groups and parties.  One of my favorite dishes to make for large groups is a pasta bar.  The base is very easy, fettuccini noodles and sauce (butter, heavy cream, parmesan cheese, garlic, lemon).  The fun part is making the toppings.  I cook up seasoned chicken, sausage, salmon and shrimp in a variety of ways, plus veggies- broccoli, asparagus, peas, spinach + capers.  The guests can mix and match all they like.  I add a couple varieties of salad and breads on the side.  Very easy and everyone raves about it. You can vary the pasta or add different sauces to meet everyone’s tastes and delights.

What dish have you messed up completely by burning or over cooking it?
Jean:  My husband has banned me from making the grilled cheese sandwiches.  I burn them every time.  I think because I step away to chase one kid or another, only to come back and find the bread smoking black.

Can you give us your favorite Christmas cookie recipe? If not the recipe, your favorite cookie, we’ll find the recipe.
Jean:  I love peanut butter balls/Buckeyes covered in chocolate.  Who doesn’t love balls for Christmas?  Here is my favorite recipe:
From AllRecipes.com
Ingredients
  • 1 1/2 cups creamy peanut butter
  • 1/2 cup butter, softened
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 4 cups sifted confectioners' sugar
  • 6 ounces semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 2 tablespoons shortening
Directions
  1. Line a baking sheet with waxed paper; set aside.
  2. In a medium bowl, mix peanut butter, butter, vanilla, and confectioners' sugar with hands to form a smooth stiff dough. Shape into balls using 2 teaspoons of dough for each ball. Place on prepared pan, and refrigerate.
  3. Melt shortening and chocolate together in a metal bowl over a pan of lightly simmering water. Stir occasionally until smooth, and remove from heat.
  4. Remove balls from refrigerator. Insert a wooden toothpick into a ball, and dip into melted chocolate. Return to wax paper, chocolate side down, and remove toothpick. Repeat with remaining balls. Refrigerate for 30 minutes to set.

I’ve given you a sneak peak at my Underworld gods of the Key to the Cursed series. Soul Reborn (available), Soul Awakened (coming soon 2012), Soul Unleashed (2012) I’d like to take a moment to introduce to my heroes and heroines.  Key to the Cursed Series:  Three sisters and their fated mates on a journey of love, redemption and war.
SOUL REBORN—Meet Asar and Lilly.

THE HUMAN REALM, HIS BATTLEFIELD.
Asar, the Egyptian God of the Underworld, has been tortured and left soulless by a malevolent goddess, relegating him to consume the very thing he was commissioned to protect. Human souls. Now an empty shell of hatred, Asar vows to kill the goddess and anyone involved in her release, but fate crosses his path with a beautiful blonde huntress who has a soul too sweet to ignore.

DEADLY SECRETS BETTER LEFT UNEARTHED.
Lilly, fearless commander of the Nehebkau huntresses, is the only thing standing in the way of the goddess' undead army unleashing hell on earth.  But Lilly has a secret—one she is willing to sell her soul to keep. If the Underworld god discovers her role in the dig that released the goddess, she will lose everything, including his heart.

SOUL AWAKENED—Meet Bakari, Kendra and Bomani (Arrive Spring 2012).

LOVE FOR BLOOD OR HONOR
Kendra, a young Egyptian Archeologist and demi-god in waiting, is the key to unlocking Bakari, the Egyptian death god, from his cursed eternal sleep, but by doing so she inadvertently binds herself to him changing her life forever. She may have to sacrifice her innocence and possibly her soul to save him before he becomes his family's worst enemy.

SINS OF THE PAST BECOME SINS OF THE FUTURE
Bakari awakens to a world at war and a woman who has tethered his soul to hers. Kendra is his only hope at redemption, but the question is, does he want it? The only thing standing in his way is Bomani, Legion Commander, who vows to keep him from the one thing he craves—his parvana, his butterfly.

SOUL UNLEASHED—Meet Kamen and Kit

FIGHTING FATE HAS CONSEQUENCES

Kit, a Nehebkau huntress, wants nothing to do with her heritage as a god, when it has only caused her suffering and pain. Not to mention her nanny is a foreboding and dangerous God of the Underworld, who tests her conviction.
WHEN CONTROLLING TEMPTATION IS NOT ENOUGH
Kamen has sworn to protect the Mother Goddess’ offspring, but Kit is a handful. Her insistence on thwarting him tests his control. She doesn’t know what she’s playing with— a beast that hungers for her soul. One taste, and her fate is sealed.

What is one of your most favorite pieces that you have done for yourself? If it’s something personal and you don’t want to show it, can you tell us about it?

I’ve had so much fun writing the Key to the Cursed series.  I like to write complex themes that really reach into the readers’ soul along with the characters.  I want you to feel their pain, their joy, and their undying love for each other.  And Key to the Cursed is not just a story, it’s really a journey with underlying themes—love, forgiveness, redemption. The story of the three sisters, Lilly, Kit & Kendra, is a touching one.  They have struggled with loss of their father and world at the brink of war.  The sisters draw strength from one another when life just isn’t playing fair. Everyone has their secrets and my characters are no exception.

Another reason I love this series, is that the secondary characters are rich and endearing.  They’re not just wall decorations. They really do support the hero and heroine in every way—emotionally, physically.
