Welcome the Divine Virna DePaul

Thank you for having me here, Shauni and Kim. You guys are so much fun and I always love a good party!!

Cats or Dogs? ( Hey what about Birds and lizards? )
I love both, but right now I just have a dog, a King Charles Cavalier Spaniel named Sprite who follows me wherever I go. She's adorable but a little on the needy side.

Salty or Sweet (This of course means when you’re “playing” because this isn’t an adult Goddess site for nothin’)? Chocolate?
I definitely have a need for both, so chocolate covered pretzels are amazing!

Vampires or Werewolves (Of course you can choose “other” but you have to elaborate *snickering*)?
Vampires are elegant and primal and have unquenched thirst. What can be hotter?

Fireman or Cowboy?
Fireman. I'm a sucker for a guy in uniform but western attire hasn't really hit the same note for me. I think I like a man with a dangerous side. If he has a drawl, that's only a plus.

Hairy or Smooth (Body hair)?
Somewhere in between, please, but if we were going to extremes, I'd prefer smooth over hairy.

Clean Shaven or Stubble?
A little stubble can transform a guy from pleasant to smoking!

Diet or Regular soda (Or....if you’re like me, Kimberly, you’re stuck on Powerade Zero)?
Caffeine free, which I know isn't the same as diet, but for some reason I can fool myself most of the time.

Fruit or Veggies (Or Chocolate)?
Chocolate covered strawberries!!!

Coffee or tea (Or Chocolate)?
Hands down chocolate.

The song that is most annoying when it sticks in your head -- sorry had to do it.

Who Let The Dogs Out?

Apple or Microsoft?
I'm an Apple convert all the way. Love, love, love my apple products. They put such a pretty sheen on Mission Impossible, Ghost Protocol.

Drama or Comedy or anything with Gerard Butler -- What Shauni? He’s Hawt! What Kim?*wiping drool* I love Gerard but what about Jason Momoa ooooohhh Or Charlie Hunnan? OOH Shauni! Charlie!!! We Loves Us some Jax! SOA! All the way baby! I guess we should let the guest answer the question though, huh? (tv, movies)?
Drama, most of the time. And Sam Worthington is my Gerard, with Daniel Craig a close second. Can't see either one of them in a comedy, so that's the tie breaker right there.

Spring or Fall (Fall -- cuz I can beat him to the floor! *snickering*)?
Both seasons are faves of mine!! Spring because of the weather, Fall because of Halloween and pumpkin bread.

Sedan or Sports Car (Hey! I live in Texas! Where’s the truck suggestion???)?
I drive a van, so a sports car would be a nice change! I still love that light blue Lexus from the Bond movies a few years back.

Tattoos or no Tattoos?
I change my mind from day to day (almost hour to hour) so nothing permanent, please.

Favorite splurge food -- Tacos, Pizza, Cheeseburger (Or Chocolate peanut butter swirl FUDGE)????
Crusty bread and yummy cheese, but failing that, pizza.

What dish do you make perfect?
Chicken Picatta.

What dish have you messed up completely by burning or over cooking it?
Sugar Cookies

Can you give us your favorite Christmas cookie recipe? If not the recipe, your favorite cookie, we’ll find the recipe.

I love English Toffee. Is there a cookie equivalent? I'd love a recipe for that!! OH LOOK! SHAUNI JUST HAPPENED TO FIND ONE!!!
ENGLISH TOFFEE COOKIES

1 c. brown sugar
1 c. granulated sugar
1 c. soft shortening
2 eggs
2 1/2 c. flour
1 tsp. soda
1 tsp. salt
6-8 Heath candy bars, broken
Cream together sugars and shortening. Add eggs and beat. Combine flour, soda and salt and add to creamed mixture. Mix well. Blend in candy bar bits. Drop by teaspoon of dough onto cookie sheets. Bake at 350 degrees for 10 to 12 minutes.

Book One in the Para-Ops Series

Book Two in the Para-Ops Series

Now is the part where we let you do some shameless self promotion of your books, artwork or jewelry (this sentence will be centered directly towards you and your work when the interview comes up). Please tell the readers something about what you’re currently writing or what has just been released. We’re shameless when it comes to pimpin’ new stuff! Aw thank you!

My newest release is Chosen By Sin, Book 3 in the Para-Ops Novels.
Here's the blurb:

The longest life isn’t always the happiest one…

Five years after the Second Civil War ends, humans and Otherborn— humanlike creatures with superhuman DNA—still struggle for peace. To ensure the continued rights of both, the FBI forms a Para-Ops team with a unique set of skills.

For now, werebeast Dex Hunt serves on the Para-Ops team, but his true purpose is to kill the werewolf leader he blames for his mother’s death. Biding his time, Dex keeps his emotional distance from his team members and anyone else he might care for, including a mysterious vampire he met in L.A.

As a doctor, vampire Jesmina Martin has dedicated her immortal life to healing others. As a scientific researcher, she’s trying to prolong life spans, in particular those of her adoptive dragon-shifter family and the werewolf who saved her as a child. Her greatest hope lies with Dex, a werebeast she believes can gift immortality to others.

Only Dex knows nothing about his gift or the fact Jesmina wants to harness it. After a passionate night together neither expects to see the other again. Weeks later, they are reunited in France and forced to acknowledge a fragile miracle—a new life struggling to survive. At the same time, they must stop a group of rebel shape-shifters hoping to unleash every demon in hell. But before Dex and Jesmina can save their child or the world, they must relinquish their secrets, face their fears, and open themselves to love.

As for the cover...... Note the stubble please. And a slight resemblance to Sam Worthington, maybe?

Yummy! Those English Toffee Cookies sound great. Unfortunately, I always burn cookies, lol. Maybe I can get my niece to make them or at least bake them after I make the cookie dough. The Para-Ops Novels are already on my TBR list. Thank you for the great giveaway and have a safe & Happy New Year! :)

Thanks so much for the recipe. I will save it for later in the year. I have over indulged in the sweets department already this month. LOL

I adore the covers for this series Virna. I think they are unique and gorgeous. I am a cover snob, I admit it. If a cover doesn't grab me I usually walk on by. Yours are striking.
